The Ink & Blood Lenormand will be the third lenormand style deck I’ve created. The characters used in the cards come from the works of French traditionalist painter William-Adolphe Bouguereau (November 30, 1825 – August 19, 1905). The theme is based upon my love of the Trash Polka style of tattooing. This is a very stark style that is mainly done in shocking reds, black, and gray tones. The imagery is usually just as stark with a lot of clip-art overtones to some of it and repeating patterns. I wanted there to be a little more color to the tattoos I give to Bouguereau’s characters though, so I’ve allowed for lighter shades of red and a few ochre shades in some of the cards. All of the individual card symbolism can be found in the tattoo designs. Below are rough drafts of the cards as I finish them.
I have no real projected (that should read hopeful) release date for this deck as of yet. When I have the time I’ve been working on it more than my other projects. When I do print it I have in mind for it to be a really well packaged deck that is available only in limited edition. The cards will be round (lacking the current boarder) and printed on a slightly higher grade linen cardstock. I also want to have nice two part card boxes with tissue wrapping inside and embossing on the cover. Ideally I’d also like the companion book to be hardbound as I’m putting a lot more information into it than previous books. In other words, this is one of those decks I want to be rather fancy. More to come. If you hover your mouse over the cards you’ll find which ones have corresponding entries on the site.
